VCW creates resource to help workers find jobs.
While the COVID-19 pandemic has led more than one million people in Virginia to file unemployment claims since March, positive signs are beginning to emerge in our local economy. More than 3,700 new jobs were created in the greater Lynchburg area during the month of June and efforts are underway to connect job seekers with available work.
Virginia Career Works – Central Region has created a job bank on its website that includes openings reported by the U.S. Department of Labor through its Career One Stop tool. Visitors to the local job bank will find all active job postings within 25 miles of the 24501 zip code. More than 1,200 jobs are active in this radius, with anywhere from 10 to 25 new openings appearing each day.
Virginia Career Works is highlighting many of the openings available in its job bank through social media. Followers of the Virginia Career Works – Central Region Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts will see multiple posts each day, which call attention to positions of varying skill levels being advertised by local employers.
