CVPDC voted to match funding for the CTE Academy in July.
Efforts to launch a Regional Career and Technical Education (CTE) Academy at Central Virginia Community College are moving forward with new funding. CVCC has been awarded a $400,000 GO Virginia grant from the Virginia Growth and Opportunity Board. The GO Virginia grant will fund a coordinator of academy operations, who will work to expand and enhance CVCC’s academic credit and credential-based offerings. Money will also support a coordinator of business engagement, who will work with partners in business/industry and secondary education to recruit students and promote CTE in the community. Planning for the CTE academy started two years ago. The Central Virginia Planning District Commission voted in July to commit up to $134,000 in matching funds to support the GO Virginia grant.
