May is Bike to Work Month!
Join us on Friday, May 17 at the Downtown Community Market for a Bike to Work Day Celebration! Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just getting started, this event is for you! We will have free coffee and a light breakfast.
All participants can enter into a drawing for a brand-new electric bike and helmet!
Not sure where to start? CVPDC Staff will be at the entrance to Riverside Park at 7:30 if you’d like to ride alongside other cyclists on the way to the Community Market.

In the event of inclement weather, you will be notified of cancellation of the event by email. For this reason, we ask that you register using the link below by May 14.
Suggested Routes
Feel free to bike on any route you'd like, but if you need recommendations, we've provided two below. CVPDC Staff will be at the entrance to Riverside Park at 7:30 if you’d like to ride alongside other cyclists on the way to the Community Market.
Rivermont Route
*Start at the entrance to Riverside Park. Take Rivermont Avenue to Main Street and then go left at 12th Street.
Kemper St Route
For those who may not be able to bike all the way to work, you can ride on the GLTC bus and bring your bike along for the last leg of your trip!
*Start at the gates of Kemper St station, take Buchanan Street to 12th Street and then Main Street.

The CVPDC has partnered with the Department of Rail and Public Transportation to provide a Commuter Assistance Program (CAP).The Commuter Assistance Program works to increase carpooling, vanpooling, and transit use, and help commuters get to their destinations safely and efficiently. Our free program is available to all residents and commuters in the Central Virginia PDC area (City of Lynchburg; Towns of Amherst, Appomattox, Altavista, Brookneal and Bedford, and the Counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Campbell and Bedford).
