Lynchburg, VA –Central Virginia Planning District Commission (CVPDC) has elected new officers to serve for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, effective July 01, 2024.
Reggie Bennett, Vice-Mayor of Altavista, has been elected Chairman; Drew Wade, Amherst County Board of Supervisors Chairman, Vice-Chairman; and Gary Shanaberger, Altavista Town Manager, Treasurer.
Amherst County & Town of Altavista Host Community Cookout/Back to School Events
The CVPDC is supporting Altavista and Amherst County in executing Community Planning Grants for Mosley Heights and South Madison Heights, respectively. Both localities hosted Community Cookout/Back to School events to seek residents’ assessments of community needs (e.g. housing, infrastructure) and their ideas to improve living conditions for all residents.

Virginia Breeze to Expand Service
The Virginia Breeze is expanding its service in 2025 with a new Tidewater Route which will connect Virginia Beach and Harrisonburg, with stops potentially being located in Norfolk, Newport News, Williamsburg, New Kent, Richmond and Charlottesville.
