The Town of Bedford and the Bedford Redevelopment Housing Authority submitted to the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development a request for planning grant assistance
for housing rehabilitation efforts within the Town. In September, DHCD offered the Town funding to conduct a Town-Wide Housing Needs Assessment. Turning to the Central Virginia Planning District Commission for assistance, the Town successfully met the requirements set forth by DHCD and submitted their Summary for consideration for comprehensive planning grant funding. Community participation was essential in the development of the community needs assessment. At the first public meeting, with more than 55 individuals in attendance, it was clear that the residents and businesses in the Town of Bedford are engaged in the process of helping shape the future of the Town.
