Development of a Lynchburg Multimodal Plan Begins
The Central Virginia Transportation Planning Organization (CVTPO), in partnership with the City of Lynchburg and the Greater Lynchburg Transit Company (GLTC), is kicking off a project to help create a safer transportation network in the City of Lynchburg.
The Lynchburg Multimodal Plan will propose strategies to develop a safer transportation system for everyone by creating ways to get around without a car – like walking, biking or taking the bus. The plan will also make it easier to reach important places throughout the community and connect to GLTC bus stops and routes.
The goal of the project is to make it easier and safer for people to walk, bike and use other modes besides driving and remove obstacles that make it feel unsafe to use non-car transportation in Lynchburg. The plan, when completed in Fall 2025, will outline projects and strategies to make transportation safer and more accessible for everyone to access important places like schools, parks and jobs. Using data analysis and community input, the plan will help the City, GLTC and the CVTPO, prioritize which project should be implemented first to meet the needs of residents.
