The CVPDC has partnered with the Department of Rail and Public Transportation to provide a Commuter Assistance Program (CAP).The Commuter Assistance Program works to increase carpooling, vanpooling, and transit use, and help commuters get to their destinations safely and efficiently. Our free program is available to all residents and commuters in the Central Virginia PDC area (City of Lynchburg; Towns of: Amherst, Appomattox, Altavista, Brookneal and Bedford, and the Counties of : Amherst, Appomattox, Campbell and Bedford).
For Commuters:
This FREE program can help you get connected to carpools in the area, find a transit stop nearby or identify bike routes to help you get where you need to go. Commuting without a personal vehicle has never been easier and can help you save time and money. In addition, choosing to car/vanpool, bike or take transit helps reduce air pollution and saves you money on gas, parking and vehicle maintenance costs!
To get started:
Download the ConnectingVA app on your smartphone or click here to visit our webpage. From there, you can register for an account and find the commuting options available in your area. Each time you take a trip, log it in your account to earn rewards and to be able to access our Emergency Ride Home Program.
For Employers:
The ConnectingVA program can help employers implement Commuter Benefit Programs to support their employees for free!
There are tax benefits, financial incentives, and one on one support available to get a new Commuter Benefit Program started. Providing these types of benefits to your employees can help reduce the financial stress on employees and improve attendance and timeliness of staff.
Our program can help develop commuter benefit programs, host lunch and learns, get data about employee commuting needs and more!
